Breckenridge Colorado was originally named for U.S. Vice President John Cabell Breckinridge in an attempt to woo him and obtain a post office. During the Civil War, Breckinridge's sympathies remained clearly with the South, and after he recieved a commission as a Confederate Brigadier General, the U.S. Senate expelled Breckinridge for treason. Dillon Colorado, incorporated in 1883, has moved three times: The first time to be closer to the railroad; the second to be located between the Blue, Ten Mile and Snake rivers; and the third in the early 1960s, when the Denver Water Board decided to build a reservoir smack dab in the middle of town. Frisco Colorado is at the center of it all. It´s a short drive to Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain ski resorts.
